Derek & The Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs

OK, yes I was only 12 when this album hit the airwaves in 1970, but I was a cool kid and this is definitely one of my favorites of all times. How can you go wrong with Eric Clapton and Duane Allman, not to mention the other great musicians of Derek & The Dominos. I also have a soft spot for this as it was recorded here in South Florida at Atlantic South-Criteria Studios, Miami.

There are so many great songs on this record, I've chosen Bell Bottom Blues as my representative audio, but they are all good. I mean Layla...yes we've heard it a million times, but it's so great.

My dream was to own a denim jacket with this cover embroidered on the back...wonder if I can find one...hmmmmmmmm...

leelee concert note: Saw Eric Clapton in Miami at the Miami Arena in May of 1992. We had terrible seats (nose bleed), but the music was wonderful!
Enjoy!

Neil Young - Decade

Ok, in keeping with my compilations theme..yet another set titled Decade. This is a great sampling of some of Neil's most timeless and rockin' hits.

I've managed to put a playlist together of 3 long jammin' tunes. Set aside approx 24 minutes for this one...

Like A Hurricane
Down By The River
and
Cortez The killer, which has recently been covered by an Australian band called The Drones...they definitely do the song justice.

leelee concert note: Saw Neil Young at Madison Square Garden in Sept 1978..great show. The last performance of his I caught live was here in SoFla when he toured with CSN..he busted out with Rockin' In The Free World and jammed for like 20 minutes, it was by far the best part of the show. If you ever get the opportunity to see Neil live...do not hesitate....even if he is 85 years old...or even if YOU are 85!

Allman Brothers Band - A Decade of Hits 1969-1979

A quintessential compilation for sure. Saw the Allmans at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ in January 1981. We had great seats, although every seat there was wonderful because it was such a small venue (3200 seats) If you were on the floor...you were going to enjoy a great show. Other artists I saw there were:

The Kinks
Peter Gabriel
Todd Rundgren

Anyway...the rendition of the song I've included here..is actually from Live From The Fillmore, but thought you might enjoy a live version of this song..

Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark

This is by far my favorite Joni album. I love to sing along with it. Perfect for a Sunday morning of puttering. Some of my favorite lines:

"Laughing and crying you know it's the same release" - People's Parties

"His eyes were the color of the sand and the sea and the more he talked to me, the more he reached me" - Court and Spark

Great album!

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

I love the machine age music on this Floyd classic. I saw this concert at Madison Square Garden and it was amazing.

Heart - Little Queen

These girls are the essence of rock and roll. I didn't buy this album until the late 90's, didn't own it when it came out. Let me say I'm glad I own it now. From the rockin' hard Barracuda to soft acoustics like Love Alive. This album is such a classic.

Ladies Of The Canyon - Joni Mitchell

Perfect for a lazy Sunday morning. I even made pancakes!

This is an early work by Joni - 1970..very ethereal. Lilting piano, fine guitar playing, amazing vocals, and lyrics that speak to me. How can you go wrong with one album that contains:

Woodstock
The Circle Game
Rainy Night House
Big Yellow Taxi
For Free

I just feel peaceful when I listent to this album ~sigh~
